Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting exceptional students in an elementary learning environment. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to provide instruction and care in an extended resource/self-contained classroom, serving K4–5th grade students. This position works collaboratively with a dedicated team: one teacher leads co-teaching/inclusion/resource, one focuses on K5 transition, and this key opening serves students with a range of needs—some attending all day, and others coming for targeted instruction in ELA and/or math.
You’ll have a manageable caseload of approximately 8-12 students with the help of a classroom assistant. Your expertise and creativity will empower these learners to thrive academically and socially. The contract runs from July 17 to June 2, giving you a full academic year to make a lasting impact.
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification (required)
- Experience in self-contained or resource room settings preferred
- Strong skills supporting both academic and behavioral needs
- Ability to individualize instruction for diverse learners
- Collaborative approach and effective communication with staff and families
- Passion for fostering a positive, inclusive environment
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student
- Deliver engaging instruction in core subjects and life skills
- Work closely with your classroom assistant and fellow educators
- Monitor progress and adjust strategies to ensure student success
- Provide direct instruction and support in ELA and/or math as needed
- Maintain a structured, positive, and supportive classroom climate
