Step into an impactful role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher for K4–5th grade in an engaging elementary school setting. You'll join a collaborative team of four dedicated special education professionals, each serving distinct groups. This particular position centers on extended resource/self-contained instruction, working with a group of approximately 8–12 students and supported by a classroom assistant.
This role offers variety—some students remain with you all day, while others join for specific instruction in ELA and/or math. Your expertise in providing individualized, compassionate guidance will be key in fostering a nurturing learning environment. Additionally, you will benefit from regular onsite support; a dedicated special education coach visits the building weekly to collaborate and enhance instructional strategies.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teaching certification
- Experience working with K4–5th grade students, ideally in self-contained or resource settings
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and differentiated instruction
- Ability to collaborate effectively with classroom assistants and fellow special educators
- Adaptability to meet the unique learning and behavioral needs of each student
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver differentiated instruction tailored to both all-day and part-time students in ELA and/or math
- Maintain and implement IEPs in coordination with school professionals and families
- Consistently track and report student progress toward goals
- Communicate openly with team members, families, and administration to ensure student success
- Foster a supportive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
