Special Education Teacher in Norwalk, CT
An exciting opportunity awaits special education professionals seeking a rewarding contract assignment for the upcoming school year. Two full-time positions are open for dedicated educators passionate about supporting middle school students in a dynamic academic environment. The first position is focused on 6th grade, with responsibilities spanning English Language Arts, Specialized Reading, Math, and Specialized Math. Ideally, candidates possess knowledge of or training in reading intervention programs such as SPIRE, WILSON, or Orton-Gillingham (OG), ensuring students receive targeted, high-impact instruction tailored to their needs.
The second opening provides academic assistance across grades 6-8, concentrating on developing students’ executive functioning skills and supporting core subject mastery in a resource-style classroom. Both roles require strong teamwork, adaptability, and genuine enthusiasm for fostering meaningful growth in each student.
Qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut special education certification or eligibility for certification is required.
- Prior experience with specialized reading interventions (for the ELA/Math position) is highly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and a commitment to individualized student support.
- Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and support staff.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Responsibilities:
