Position Details:
- Student Caseload: 8 students in grades 6-8
- Self-contained special education classroom
- Full-time assignment, 35 hours per week
- Program: Functional (RISE) – alternative curriculum
- Assignment dates: Now through June 9, 2027
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (required)
- Valid Special Education teaching credential for grades 6-8 (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience teaching in a self-contained or alternative curriculum setting strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of IEPs, individualized instruction, and behavioral strategies
- Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop individualized lesson plans and adapt curriculum to student needs
- Implement behavioral and instructional strategies in a self-contained classroom
- Collaborate with support staff, therapists, and families
- Maintain meticulous records and participate in IEP meetings
- Advocate for student progress and an inclusive, safe learning environment
