Special Education Teacher - Oxford, Michigan

In this contract role, you'll be working onsite with a dedicated team committed to making a difference every day. The assignment begins as soon as possible and spans through June 2027, offering both stability and the chance to build deep connections with your students and colleagues.
Desired Background:
- Valid CI (Cognitive Impairment) teaching certification is required; experience in ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) settings is highly valued
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with Autism, including effective crisis management
- Prior work with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices strongly preferred
- Ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team focused on whole-student growth
- Skilled in behavioral interventions and supporting self-regulation for students with complex challenges
- Proven track record of adaptability and empathy in dynamic educational environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small group instruction to elementary students with cognitive impairments, primarily within an ASD program framework
- Collaborate with speech, occupational, and other related service providers to design and implement comprehensive educational plans
- Utilize evidence-based strategies to enhance student communication, behavioral regulation, and academic progress
- Support the use and integration of AAC technology in daily instruction
- Communicate effectively with families and the wider support team to ensure holistic student support
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to ongoing program development
