With a manageable caseload (10 elementary or 11 middle school students) and consistent weekly hours, this position is perfect for those who thrive on collaboration, individualized instruction, and professional growth. You’ll work closely with support staff and administrators to promote an inclusive, supportive environment for all learners.
Qualifications & Preferred Experience
- Active Special Education Teacher certification in Michigan (Please be prepared to provide proof of license upon application)
- Experience teaching in resource classroom settings or similar environments is highly valued
- Strong understanding of special education law, IEP development, and differentiated instruction
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to foster relationships with families, students, and multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement individualized instructional plans based on IEP goals and student strengths
- Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of each student
- Maintain accurate records and produce progress reports in compliance with district and state guidelines
- Create a safe, positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and growth
- Collaborate regularly with general education teachers and related service providers
