Special Education Teacher in Quincy, MA

Embark on an exciting contract opportunity supporting high school students as a Special Education Teacher and Reading Specialist near Quincy, MA. This role is ideal for professionals who are passionate about literacy interventions and committed to individualized student progress. You'll engage a caseload of approximately 30 students, with the potential for a few incoming 8th graders, delivering specially designed instruction grounded in Orton-Gillingham methodology.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Special Education Teaching certification for grades 5-12
- Valid DESE license in Special Education
- Completion of a 1-year Orton-Gillingham practicum
- Certification in Orton-Gillingham or Wilson Reading
- Demonstrated experience with secondary-level reading interventions
- Strong communication and organizational abilities
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver structured reading and literacy interventions using OG or Wilson Reading methods
- Develop and adapt individualized education plans to meet unique learner needs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and parents to maximize student growth
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting interventions as needed
- Maintain a nurturing and equitable classroom environment
- Engage in ongoing professional collaboration to support best practices
