Special Education Teacher in Rifle, CO
Make a positive difference in the lives of students by supporting their growth and success! Two contract positions are available for experienced Special Education Teachers. In these roles, you will work onsite, serving grades 6–8 or 9–12, focusing on students with mild to moderate needs in a supportive school environment. Assignments run from August 17, 2026, through June 3, 2027, and offer the rewarding challenge of managing a caseload of approximately 25–30 students.
Qualifications:
- Valid Colorado Teaching License
- SPED Endorsement
- Experience working with students with mild/moderate disabilities
- Ability and willingness to provide support with toileting if required
- Confidence in managing classroom behaviors and fostering inclusive learning
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with staff, families, and students
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to student needs
- Adapt curriculum and instruction for diverse learners
- Provide direct instruction in both individual and small group settings
- Track progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with families
- Collaborate with general education staff and paraprofessionals
- Create a nurturing and structured classroom environment that supports emotional and academic growth
- Be adaptable and responsive to the needs of the student population
