Special Education Teacher in Ronald, WA
Step into a pivotal role shaping educational experiences as a Special Education Teacher supporting a K-8 online program for the 2026-2027 school year. In this fully virtual, contract-based opportunity, you’ll empower families and ensure students with diverse learning needs thrive in their Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) while maintaining seamless IEP compliance.
Your expertise and flexibility will guide you. You’ll coordinate with families and customize your own schedule within standard school hours, adapting to parents’ needs for meetings and ensuring every student receives thoughtful oversight. There’s no direct instruction required; instead, your focus is on monitoring and maintaining IEP documentation and progress for a group of currently 25, potentially up to 30, home-based students. This caseload encompasses unique learners navigating Speech, Health Impairments, Learning Disabilities, and more—all attending school virtually rather than onsite.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Washington Special Education Teacher certification required
- Experience with K-8 age groups strongly preferred
- Skilled in coordinating and managing IEP meetings, compliance, and documentation
- Organized and detail-oriented with strong communication skills for virtual parent collaboration
- Comfort with flexible scheduling and independent, remote work
- Familiarity with various special education categories (e.g., Speech, Health Impairment, LD)
Responsibilities:
- Oversee IEP compliance and goal tracking for each student in the program
- Maintain accurate, timely IEP records and ensure legal requirements are met
- Collaborate virtually with parents, district personnel, and service providers
- Proactively communicate and adjust to the evolving needs of families and students
- Empower parents acting as learning coaches in the home environment
