An exciting contract opportunity awaits for a Special Education Teacher to provide crucial support in a self-contained, functional curriculum classroom. This full-time position begins August 4th, 2026, and runs through May 26th, 2027, with possible additional pre- and post-planning days. You’ll work closely with two paraprofessionals and a Registered Behavior Technician to deliver meaningful instruction and support to students with lower functioning needs. Successful performance could lead to extension into the following school year.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Possess active GaPSC Special Education Certification with SPED content through 8th grade
- Adapted Curriculum Endorsement required (district open to those with pending credentials)
- Experience teaching in a self-contained special education environment (preferred)
- Dedicated to cultivating a positive, inclusive classroom culture
- Strong collaboration skills for working with paraprofessionals and support staff
- Comfortable maintaining instructional and behavioral strategies for a lower functioning caseload
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
- Provide differentiated instruction using functional and adapted curriculum materials
- Manage, support, and collaborate with classroom paraprofessionals and behavioral technicians
- Track and document student progress, adjusting instruction as needed
- Create a safe, supportive learning environment for students with significant cognitive and adaptive needs
- Collaborate with families and interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuous student growth
