Special Education Teacher | Shawnee, Kansas

Multiple contract opportunities are available serving elementary, middle, and high school aged students, as well as an alternative school program focused on severe behaviors. You’ll shape the educational experience for students in Life Skills, Autism, or Behavior-focused classrooms among a dynamic team of passionate educators.
Openings include:
- Elementary: 10 teachers
- Middle School: 5 teachers
- High School: 4 teachers
- Alternative/Bridges Program (severe behaviors, all grades): 2 teachers
Qualifications:
- Valid Kansas licensure to teach special education at the appropriate grade level (must be active and presented prior to placement)
- Classroom experience supporting students in life skills, autism, or behavioral settings is preferred
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusive education
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Create a supportive, structured learning environment tailored to students’ unique needs
- Collaborate with paraeducators, therapists, families, and school teams
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
- Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and school events
