Special Education Teacher | Silt, Colorado
Experience the impact of supporting students as a dedicated Special Education Teacher in the Rifle, CO area. This full-time, onsite contract opportunity offers you the chance to make a real difference in the lives of students with mild to moderate needs. You'll be working in a supportive school environment with access to resources and a collaborative staff. Two exciting openings are available: one focused on grades 6–8 and another on grades 9–12. Both positions involve serving students with mild/moderate needs and managing a manageable caseload of approximately 25–30 students.
Qualifications & Experience Desired:
- Valid Colorado Teaching License
- Active SPED Endorsement required
- Experience or strong comfort level supporting students with mild to moderate learning and behavioral needs
- Willingness to assist students with toileting needs when necessary
- Commitment to creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction and support to students with IEPs, focusing on their individual goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and other service providers
- Develop individualized lesson plans and adapt curriculum to meet the unique needs of each student
- Track and document student progress, ensuring all compliance and reporting requirements are met
- Foster a safe, welcoming, and nurturing classroom environment
- Communicate regularly with families and participate in IEP meetings
