Special Education Teacher in Silt, CO
Make a real difference in the lives of students as a Special Education Teacher in western Colorado. You’ll work onsite with middle or high school students, supporting those with mild to moderate needs. This contract position provides an excellent opportunity to engage deeply with students, develop individualized plans, and collaborate with a dedicated educational team—all within a robust, supportive environment.
There are two positions open: one serving grades 6–8 and another for grades 9–12, each handling a caseload of approximately 25–30 students. You'll work full-time during the school year, from mid-August through early June.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current, active Colorado teaching license
- Special Education (SPED) endorsement required
- Experience supporting students with mild/moderate behavioral and academic needs
- Willingness to assist with toileting needs if required
- Passion for fostering an inclusive, positive classroom environment
- Strong collaboration skills and open communication style
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver individualized education plans (IEPs) for each student on your caseload
- Differentiate instruction to meet the varied learning needs of students
- Track student progress and update documentation as needed
- Work closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and families to ensure student success
- Foster self-advocacy and social-emotional growth in your students
- Manage classroom routines and supports to maintain a safe, positive learning environment
