Key Requirements:
- Valid Special Education certification or eligibility for certification in Connecticut is mandatory for both positions.
- Experience or training in reading intervention programs (SPiRE, WILSON, Orton Gillingham, etc.) is strongly preferred for the first role.
- Solid understanding of executive functioning support, IEP implementation, and individualized academic assistance.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with colleagues and families.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom environment.
Role Descriptions:
- The first position focuses on 6th grade English Language Arts, Reading, Math, and specialized reading/math instruction. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in delivering targeted reading interventions and adapting curriculum for diverse learning needs.
- The second position, Academic Assistance Teacher (Grades 6-8), centers on supporting students’ executive functioning, managing academic goals, and providing tailored assistance in a resource setting.
Both roles are full-time (Monday–Friday), ranging from 35 to 37.5 hours per week, during the 2026/2027 academic year.
