Step into a vital role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in a close-knit school setting near Summerville, SC. This contract opportunity begins as soon as possible and extends through June 5, 2026, offering the chance to make a meaningful difference through the end of the academic year. The classroom currently supports 24 students, with potential for the caseload to grow. As the only Special Education Teacher in the building, you’ll collaborate closely with a dedicated special education coordinator and a paraeducator to foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification for South Carolina (or eligibility for certification)
- Experience working with diverse exceptional learners and adapting instruction to meet a wide range of needs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, demonstrating flexibility and compassion
- Previous experience in similar small school settings is a plus, but not required
- Ability to meet compliance requirements, maintain documentation, and work effectively as the sole SPED instructor
Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver individualized instruction for students on IEPs, ensuring academic growth and social development
- Develop and implement tailored behavioral and learning interventions
- Work in tandem with the SPED coordinator and para to provide consistent support to all students
- Maintain accurate and timely records, progress reports, and IEP documentation
- Engage with parents, guardians, and school team to ensure student success
Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 7:30am – 4:15pm Fridays, 7:30am – 3:00pm
