Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification (standard license required, no alternative certificates accepted)
- Previous classroom experience in special education, ideally within K-2, pre-school, or 7-8th grade
- Comprehensive understanding of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
- Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to design and adapt curriculum
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective engagement with students, families, and colleagues
- Passion for advocating on behalf of students with special needs, creating an inclusive and supportive environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored and differentiated instruction for students in assigned grade bands
- Develop, implement, and track progress on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to evaluate student progress and support goals
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all state and federal guidelines
- Foster a positive classroom atmosphere that supports growth, independence, and self-advocacy
