Special Education Teacher in Thornton, CO

This contract opportunity offers multiple openings across several campuses, supporting students from kindergarten through elementary levels and addressing a diverse range of learning needs.
Choose between full-time (37.5 hours/week) or part-time positions, each assigned to just one school, allowing you to truly connect with your caseload and become an integral educational resource. Opportunities are available for Learning Specialists, SSN (Significant Support Needs) Teachers, and AN (Affective Needs) Teachers. Classrooms are well-supported, featuring additional teachers, paraprofessionals, and specialized service providers to collaborate in meeting student needs.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Colorado Department of Education teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement
- Experience with students with significant autism, especially non-verbal students and AAC devices
- Background in de-escalating unsafe behaviors and supporting students with severe emotional or behavioral challenges
- Knowledge of structured and self-contained classroom models (SLS, SSN, AN)
- Ability to build and implement life skills programs and use data-driven strategies
- Comfortable collaborating with and supporting instructional aides/paras
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students, team members, and caregivers
