Special Education Teacher - Thornton, CO
Make a meaningful impact in students’ lives by supporting unique learners in a welcoming school environment. Two contract special education positions are available for dynamic professionals passionate about inclusive education, based at middle schools in the Northglenn and Thornton areas.
Current openings include a full-time Learning Services role starting in late September (mild-moderate caseload, 7-week duration) and a versatile position at another campus, where an educator can serve either as a .5 FTE Significant Support Needs (SSN) teacher, a .5 Learning Specialist, or as a full-time Learning Specialist, with assignments running from ASAP until winter break (potentially extending through the end of the school year).
Key Qualifications:
- Active Colorado Department of Education Teacher License with Special Education Generalist endorsement (Ages 5-21)
- Previous experience or deep interest in working with middle school-aged students
- Familiarity with mild-moderate disabilities and/or significant support needs (SSN)
- Commitment to inclusive practices and differentiated instruction
- Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset
Role Expectations:
- Deliver individualized instruction to students on IEPs in both inclusive and resource settings
- Adapt and modify curricular materials according to student needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and support staff
- Uphold compliance with district and state requirements for documentation and planning
- Participate actively in IEP meetings and ongoing progress monitoring
Candidates must be prepared to complete time-sensitive credentialing processes, including fingerprinting and reference checks, to ensure compliance for immediate onboarding.
