Special Education Teacher - Torrington, Connecticut
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students for the 2026-2027 academic year as a Special Education Resource Teacher! Three passionate educators are sought to provide dedicated resource support across Kindergarten, Grades 1-2, and Grade 7 caseloads. This full-time in-person contract position offers a dynamic and rewarding opportunity to guide students toward their fullest potential.
You’ll collaborate on a supportive team, working Monday through Friday for 35-37.5 hours per week throughout the academic year, from August 2026 to June 2027. Your commitment will be essential to cultivating a nurturing and structured learning environment for students with diverse needs.
Your background should include:
- State certification (or eligibility) in Special Education for the applicable grade levels
- Previous experience working in a resource or case manager position, ideally with K-7th grade students
- Strong understanding of IEP process, compliance, and documentation requirements
- Effective communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to adapt instruction and interventions for a variety of learning profiles
- A positive, patient, and proactive approach to behavior management and student engagement
In this role, you will:
- Deliver individualized and small group instruction as outlined in students’ IEPs
- Act as a case manager, monitoring progress and ensuring goals are met
- Partner with classroom teachers and families to implement accommodations and strategies
- Maintain accurate records and participate actively in IEP meetings
- Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom atmosphere for all learners
