Two contract opportunities are available for resource classroom Special Education Teachers—one focusing on elementary students, the other on middle schoolers. Candidates can specify their preferred age group, ensuring alignment with their experience and interests.
Step into a collaborative educational setting, working with manageable caseloads (10 elementary or 11 middle school students) and a dedicated team, all while making a profound difference in students’ lives. The role starts as soon as possible and extends through June 10, 2027, providing both stability and the chance to see real progress in your students over several academic years.
Key Qualifications:
- Current and active MI Special Education teaching license (required; please be prepared to provide proof upon submission)
- Experience working in a resource setting, supporting students in both individual and small-group formats
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Passion for differentiated instruction and inclusive education
- Adaptable and committed to meeting the diverse needs of learners
Responsibilities:
- Deliver resource support services to assigned caseload of elementary or middle school students (please state your preference)
- Develop, implement, and track Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with parents and staff
- Support students across academic and behavioral needs
- Communicate effectively with school teams and families
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to a positive, encouraging classroom culture
Work Schedule:
- Elementary: 7:55 a.m. – 3:10 p.m. at East Leroy Elementary
- Middle School: 7:35 a.m. – 2:40 p.m. at Athens High School
- 35 hours per week
