Make an impact this school year by supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in a dynamic resource setting. Two contract positions are open for dedicated educators—choose between elementary and middle school assignments based on your expertise and preference. Both roles are situated in a collaborative school environment near Vicksburg, MI, and are available for an immediate start through June 10, 2027 (tentative).
In these resource classrooms, you’ll work closely with groups of 10 elementary or 11 middle school students, fostering their academic, social, and emotional growth. You’ll be based at either Athens High School (7:35 a.m. – 2:40 p.m.) or East Leroy Elementary (7:55 a.m. – 3:10 p.m.), with a consistent weekly schedule totaling 35 hours.
Skills and qualifications:
- Holds an active Michigan Special Education teaching license (verification required with application)
- Demonstrated experience or training in resource or inclusion classrooms supporting diverse learners
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to liaise with general education teachers, families, and support staff
- Commitment to best practices in differentiated instruction and student-centered education
- Flexibility to adapt to students’ needs and a positive, proactive approach
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction in accordance with IEPs
- Develop and adapt lesson plans and instructional materials
- Supervise and track student progress, communicating regularly with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Collaborate in developing and implementing behavior management strategies
- Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings
