Your skills as a Special Education Teacher will be critical in fostering growth, communication, and independence for students with autism. The position is a full-time contract role offering the satisfaction of creating inclusive classrooms and building strong relationships with families and colleagues.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Experience working with children on the autism spectrum, preferably in self-contained settings
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and implementation strategies
- Effective communication skills for engaging with parents, staff, and administrators
- Patience, flexibility, and a creative approach to lesson planning
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver lessons tailored to K-2nd grade students with autism in a self-contained classroom
- Develop and implement individualized education plans
- Foster a structured, supportive environment that encourages student participation and independence
- Collaborate with support staff, therapists, and administration for cohesive service delivery
- Monitor, document, and report on student progress toward IEP goals
- Encourage social, emotional, and academic growth through evidence-based teaching practices
