Special Education Teacher - West Hartford, Connecticut
Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Special Education Teacher for a contract assignment this fall. This onsite position focuses on providing specialized instruction and educational support while covering a leave period. Qualifications & Experience:
- Current Connecticut Special Education Teacher license required
- Any additional state-mandated certifications, as applicable
- Previous experience teaching students with diverse learning needs preferred
- Understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Collaborative approach when working alongside educators, staff, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver differentiated instruction and interventions tailored to each student's needs and goals
- Develop, update, and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Track student progress, maintaining accurate documentation and records
- Work closely with general education teachers and support staff to ensure inclusion best practices
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and concerns
- Create a supportive, proactive, and engaging classroom environment
- Follow all district and state requirements for compliance and reporting
This contract position runs from September 15, 2026, through October 27, 2026, with a 35-hour work week. The role requires onsite presence, allowing you to collaborate directly with students and staff.
