Special Education Teacher | Wilmington, Illinois
Make a difference supporting students’ growth and discovery for the upcoming school year! Multiple full-time opportunities are available for dedicated Special Education Teachers at the elementary and middle school levels, with contract positions beginning August 2026 and running through May 2027.
Current openings include a 6th-grade co-teaching assignment with a projected caseload of 11 students, primarily serving those with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) and Other Health Impairments (OHI). Additionally, we’re hiring for two K–3 direct instruction roles, each with a projected caseload of 10, providing instruction and support to students with a variety of exceptionalities—including OHI, Autism (AUT), SLD, Intellectual Disabilities (ID), and Developmental Delays (DD).
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Experience supporting students with SLD, OHI, AUT, ID, or DD in an educational setting
- Familiarity with co-teaching models (for the 6th-grade role)
- Strong commitment to differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices
- Skilled in case management, writing and implementing IEPs
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and colleagues
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, evidence-based instruction to assigned caseload
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and staff
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment tailored to diverse learner needs
- Communicate regularly with families and caregivers regarding progress and goals
- Participate in ongoing professional development
