Special Education Teacher in Winnetka, IL
Make a difference in the lives of elementary students by providing essential support in a resource model special education classroom. This onsite role offers the chance to work in a collaborative, supportive elementary school environment with a K-4 caseload, delivering both pull-out and push-in services to students who need targeted academic and emotional assistance.
Key Qualifications:
- LBS1 endorsement required (or comparable special education certification)
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) required; out-of-state applicants can reference the ISBE Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS) for licensure steps
- Experience supporting elementary-age students, ideally with direct or resource service delivery
- Strong instructional skills for both academic and social-emotional development
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers and support staff
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction in a pull-out setting and co-teach or support within general education classrooms
- Design and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs
- Monitor progress and report on both academic and social/emotional goals
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to foster student growth
- Maintain detailed records in compliance with district guidelines
This position offers a full-time schedule, Monday through Friday, averaging 35 hours per week. You’ll have a daily 30-minute lunch and two 15-minute breaks.
