Special Education Teacher in Winsted, CT

Inspire young learners and make a difference in public education by supporting K-7th graders as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time, in-person contract opportunity offers the chance to guide students in resource classrooms and directly impact their academic and personal growth. Multiple positions are available to work with Kindergarten, Grades 1-2, and 7th grade students.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility for certification)
- Background in teaching or case managing students with a variety of learning needs
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Adaptability and creativity in supporting student learning and engagement
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
Daily Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional support to students in resource classroom settings
- Develop, implement, and review Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Serve as a case manager and collaborate with general education teachers and support staff
- Track student progress, maintain detailed records, and complete required documentation
- Participate in parent meetings and IEP conferences throughout the year
- Engage in ongoing professional development and staff meetings as scheduled
Additional Details:
- Positions run August 2026 – June 2027
- Monday-Friday, 35-37.5 hours per week
- Three openings available: Kindergarten Resource, Grade 1-2 Resource, and 7th Grade Resource/Case Manager
- In-person candidates only
