This full-time contract opportunity calls for a compassionate, skilled Special Education Teacher with a strong background in working with students who have significant cognitive and physical disabilities. The position is onsite, offering an engaging environment for those experienced in special education to truly shine and help students succeed.
Key Qualifications:
- Current, valid special education teaching certification
- Experience with K-5 students in substantially separate settings preferred
- Background in working with individuals with severe intellectual and/or physical disabilities required
- Skill in specially designed instruction and knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), highly desired
- Familiarity with supporting students who are non-verbal or on the autism spectrum
- Willingness and ability to assist with toileting and personal care needs
- Able to collaborate with paraprofessionals and registered behavior technicians (RBTs)
- Dedication to fostering inclusion, student engagement, and individualized student progress
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
- Adapt curriculum and classroom activities to meet diverse learning and communication styles
- Collaborate closely with classroom support staff and related service providers
- Provide necessary personal care, including toileting assistance
- Utilize ABA principles and data-driven strategies to increase student independence and learning outcomes
- Maintain accurate progress records and communicate student achievements to families and multidisciplinary teams
