This role moves beyond the typical classroom setting, with a focus on providing coaching, guidance on SEIS (IEPs), and best practices for managing behaviors and interventions throughout the district.
Key Qualifications:
- Active California Mild/Moderate Education Specialist Credential (required)
- Proven experience in special education settings, ideally across various grade levels
- Deep knowledge of SEIS software, IEP development, and relevant legal/educational requirements
- Strong coaching, mentoring, and collaborative skills
- Must possess valid driver’s license and be able to travel between multiple schools as needed
Core Responsibilities:
- Partner with Special Education Director to onboard, coach, and support new special education teachers
- Guide staff in navigating SEIS, IEP processes, and effective behavioral interventions
- Visit and consult at eight schools within the district on an as-needed basis
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for special education practices, compliance, and intervention strategies
- Foster positive professional relationships and collaborative problem-solving within teams
