Step into a meaningful contract opportunity supporting students with diverse needs in Carbon and Lehigh counties. This assignment covers the 2026–2027 school year, with roles available for four itinerant Special Education Teachers. Each teacher will serve as a key support, covering teacher absences in assigned geographic areas or stepping into established classrooms as needed. These positions are in-person only, and will follow the standard school calendar, providing a predictable work schedule of 35 hours per week.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Pennsylvania teaching license and active PA PDE certification required.
- Must hold one or more of the following: Experience-Based Certificate in Special Education PK-12, Instructional I or II Certificate in appropriate Special Education areas (agency-based).
- Demonstrated experience supporting students in special education settings.
- Strong involvement in IEP development, review, and implementation processes.
- Must be able to provide proof of current Pennsylvania licensure and PDE certification via TIMS.
Role Highlights:
- Serve as an itinerant educator, covering classrooms for teachers on leave or absence throughout Carbon or Lehigh County.
- When not covering an absence, work in one of the intermediate unit’s classrooms to continue supporting students.
- Contribute to comprehensive IEP planning and meet the daily educational needs of students with diverse learning requirements.
- Collaborate with other professionals and adapt to a variety of school settings.
- Report to the IU’s main office as needed; primary assignments will be in the field.
