Special Education Teacher | Andover, Minnesota

Make a meaningful impact as an Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Teacher working with preschool-aged children in a supportive, center-based setting. In this contract role, you’ll provide specialized instruction to children ages 3-5 with a variety of needs, helping to nurture their cognitive, social, emotional, communication, and physical development. Key Qualifications:
- Valid Early Childhood Special Education licensure (required)
- Experience as a Special Education Teacher, particularly in early childhood settings
- Strong understanding of child development and early intervention best practices
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with families, colleagues, and related service providers
- Skilled in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Prior experience using positive behavior supports and social-emotional strategies
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to individual student needs
- Conduct ongoing assessments and observations to inform eligibility decisions, progress, and instructional goals
- Embed intervention strategies within daily play-based routines for optimal learning
- Communicate regularly with families and staff to coordinate comprehensive support
- Provide guidance and leadership to paraprofessionals assisting in the classroom
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment
Position Details:
- Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Morning Class: 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM; Afternoon Class: 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM
- Located in a well-resourced elementary school center-based ECSE program
