Special Education Teacher - Andover, MN

A rewarding contract opportunity is now available for a Special Education Teacher focused on supporting students with developmental cognitive disabilities. This full-time role, starting at the end of February and extending through early June of 2027, is based in a vibrant elementary school setting with a dedicated K-2 caseload of approximately 10 students. The schedule runs from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, providing a consistent workday and the chance to make a significant impact.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching license or eligible for licensure in Special Education
- Experience working with students diagnosed with developmental cognitive disabilities preferred
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction aligned with IEP goals for students in kindergarten through second grade
- Develop, implement, and regularly update IEPs based on student progress and needs
- Collaborate closely with general education staff, administrators, and families to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications
- Use varied instructional strategies and classroom management techniques tailored to each student’s unique learning profile
- Maintain accurate records, including progress monitoring, data collection, and reporting
- Participate in professional development and school team meetings to stay current with best practices
