Special Education Teacher | Andover, Minnesota

Take the opportunity to make a difference as a dedicated Special Education Teacher, working with students with Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD) in a supportive environment. This full-time, onsite contract position is located near Andover, MN and aligned with the upcoming academic year – beginning late August 2026 through early June 2027. You’ll be providing specialized instruction to a caseload typically consisting of nine students, collaborating with other educational professionals, and empowering your students to reach their unique potential.
Qualifications:
- Active Minnesota Teaching Certification (Tier 3 or Tier 4 required; must be submitted with your resume for consideration)
- Experience working as a Special Education Teacher, ideally with students who have developmental cognitive disabilities
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to develop and adapt lesson plans to diverse learning needs
- Commitment to collaborative teamwork with staff, students, and families
Responsibilities:
- Deliver differentiated instruction to students with DCD in a positive, inclusive environment
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Maintain accurate student records and progress reports
- Collaborate with general education staff, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
- Foster strong relationships with families and caregivers, offering regular updates and support
- Contribute to IEP meetings and professional development sessions as needed
This contract offers a schedule of 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch and consistent hours from roughly 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
