Make a difference in the educational journey of high school students by stepping into a contract Special Education teaching role for the coming school year. This unique, part-time opportunity (approximately 18.75–20 hours per week) focuses on supporting learners at an Alternative Learning Center, providing targeted instruction in a blended/onsite setting. You'll play a key part in helping students with diverse academic and behavioral needs achieve their graduation goals.
Qualifications:
- Valid Minnesota Special Education Teaching License (such as ABS, EBD, LD, or a related endorsement)
- Demonstrated experience working with high school students, ideally in a special education or alternative learning environment
- Skilled in differentiating instruction and implementing IEPs
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to foster a supportive, inclusive atmosphere for students facing academic and behavioral challenges
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, individualized and small-group instruction to students with a variety of learning needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff to provide appropriate accommodations and modifications
- Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals, and participate in team meetings
- Maintain a structured, nurturing classroom environment that encourages student growth and confidence
- Act as an advocate for students, promoting their strengths and addressing barriers to learning
