Special Education Teacher - Arlington Heights, Illinois
Empower students of all abilities as a dedicated Special Education Teacher for a K-12 caseload in a supportive educational setting near Arlington Heights, IL. This contract role is set to start on August 12, 2026, offering an excellent opportunity to provide meaningful instruction and support to a small, manageable group of 13 students. Working 35 hours per week across a standard school schedule, you'll make a difference in students’ lives while collaborating with a passionate team of educators.
Preferred candidates will have experience working with diverse learners and be committed to fostering an inclusive environment that encourages growth and independence for each student.
Qualifications:
- Valid LBS1 credential or certification required
- Previous experience teaching K-12 students with special needs preferred
- Proven skills in individualized instruction, curriculum modification, and assessment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with colleagues and families
- Ability to adapt to varying learning styles and implement evidence-based strategies
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's goals
- Modify curriculum to meet the needs and strengths of students on your caseload
- Collect data and track student progress toward educational objectives
- Work closely with general education teachers, families, and related service providers
- Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions
