In this full-time contract position, you’ll provide instruction and support to elementary-aged learners within a self-contained classroom setting. With a schedule of 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 3:30pm, you’ll have the opportunity to foster a positive, inclusive learning environment for students in grades 3-5.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education (Illinois or transferable credential)
- Prior experience teaching in a self-contained or special education classroom preferred
- Strong understanding of IEP processes and implementation
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
- Ability to differentiate instruction and provide behavioral support tailored to individual needs
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students in your class
- Deliver engaging, standards-based lessons adapted to meet diverse learning abilities
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals and related services staff to maximize student growth
- Assess student progress and maintain thorough, accurate documentation
- Create a positive, safe classroom environment that nurtures social and academic development
- Communicate regularly with families and contribute to team meetings and parent conferences
