Special Education Teacher - Aurora, CO
Step into an impactful role supporting students with diverse abilities in North Denver-area schools for the 2026-2027 academic year. Multiple full-time opportunities are available for dedicated special education professionals to make a difference across elementary and middle school campuses. Assignments range from Affective Needs, Significant Support Needs (center-based), Structured Learning Services, to Learning Specialist roles.
Desired experience and qualifications:
- Active Colorado Department of Education Certification with Special Education endorsement required
- Prior experience supporting students with significant autism needs; comfort working with non-verbal children and familiarity with AAC devices highly valued
- Proficiency in de-escalating unsafe behaviors and employing effective, data-driven interventions
- Ability to collaborate and manage classroom assistants and support staff
- Experience in building life skills and adjusting educational approaches for K-8 students with autism, emotional dysregulation, and emotional disabilities
Your key responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ unique needs
- Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment that supports both academic and behavioral growth
- Work closely with paraprofessionals, general education staff, and specialized service providers in a comprehensive team approach
- Communicate progress with parents, guardians, and school personnel
- Utilize evidence-based strategies and adaptive technologies to ensure student access to curriculum and functional skills development
- Manage and organize a self-contained classroom or provide targeted support as needed across assigned schools
Contract positions begin August 11, 2026, and run through May 20, 2027, with full-time hours (35+ per week) and the opportunity to work onsite with enthusiastic colleagues and committed support teams.
