You'll be placed at one school site for your assignment, either at the elementary or high school level. One opportunity focuses on mild to moderate learning needs, while the other involves working with a high school affective needs program, leading a dedicated team of paraprofessionals and supporting students with more significant emotional and behavioral challenges.
Qualifications & Desired Background:
- Hold a valid Colorado Department of Education Teacher license with Special Education Generalist (5-21) endorsement
- Previous experience teaching special education, with expertise matched to either mild/moderate or affective needs settings
- For affective needs: Experience with CPI, de-escalation, ABA principles, and autism spectrum disorders is essential; skill in FBA and BIP strongly preferred
- Special education math teaching ability is a plus
- Strong collaborative spirit and personality to work comfortably with fellow educators and related service providers
- Organized and proactive in completing timely credentialing paperwork as required by the district
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to individual student needs
- Foster an inclusive and structured classroom environment
- Employ behavioral and academic interventions as appropriate
- Lead and coordinate with paraprofessionals (Affective Needs role)
- Communicate regularly with families and interdisciplinary teams
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reporting
