Inspire and support high school students by stepping into a pivotal role as a Special Education Teacher in a Cognitive Impairment classroom. Key Qualifications:
- Active and valid MI Special Education Teaching license is required (please include a screenshot with your application).
- Experience in special education, preferably with cognitive impairment classrooms.
- Demonstrated ability to connect with and support high school-aged students.
- Strong collaboration skills to work alongside fellow educators, support staff, and families.
- Commitment to cultivating a positive, inclusive, and empowering classroom atmosphere.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver individualized lesson plans tailored to the unique needs of high school students with cognitive impairments.
- Implement evidence-based instructional strategies and accommodations.
- Assess student progress regularly and adjust educational strategies as needed.
- Foster a supportive classroom climate that encourages independence and self-advocacy.
- Communicate proactively with students, families, and the educational team regarding goals, progress, and challenges.
- Maintain thorough documentation to ensure compliance and track student achievement.
- Collaborate within the multidisciplinary team to facilitate IEP meetings and educational planning.
