Special Education Teacher - Berwyn, Illinois

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting elementary students as a Special Education Teacher near Berwyn, IL. This full-time assignment covers FMLA needs, with service from August 14 through the end of September—and the possibility of an extension. In this role, you’ll work with 4th and 5th graders (approximately 8–10 students) in a resource setting, providing both push-in and pull-out instruction focused on ELA and Math.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) AND LBS1 Endorsement—please attach a screenshot of your license by adding a blank page to the end of your resume (verify status at the ISBE site).
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher preferred, particularly with upper elementary grade levels.
- Strong commitment to individualized instruction and team collaboration.
- Confidence delivering both push-in and pull-out minutes.
- Ability to maintain open communication with parents, administrators, and team members.
- Onsite interview required as part of the process.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and differentiated instruction to small groups of 4th and 5th grade students, supporting IEP goals in ELA and Math.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service staff.
- Monitor and document student progress, reporting on IEP goals.
- Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment.
- Maintain accurate records and effective communication with families.
- Regular onsite attendance, weekdays from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
