Spanish Special Education Teacher | Berwyn, Illinois

This contract position is designed for a skilled educator who is fluent in both English and Spanish and interested in making a difference for students grades 6–8. The assignment runs from August 17, 2026, through June 2, 2027, and offers you the opportunity to become an essential part of a school community that values educational continuity and a child-centered teaching philosophy.
What you’ll bring:
- Valid Special Education Teacher licensure in Illinois
- Proven experience teaching in junior high and/or high school settings (grades 6–12)
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, with the ability to instruct and build meaningful relationships in both languages
- Demonstrated career consistency with a commitment to long-term educational placements
- A student-centered teaching philosophy, focused on individualized growth rather than a rigid adherence to curriculum
- Comfort working with small class sizes (20 or fewer students)
- History of positive collaboration with multidisciplinary educational teams
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs
- Provide differentiated instruction in both English and Spanish
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment
- Collaborate closely with fellow teachers, specialists, and school staff to support student success
- Engage students in their learning journeys, adapting strategies to support social, emotional, and academic growth
- Maintain effective communication with families to promote ongoing progress and involvement
