Make a meaningful impact supporting students as an itinerant Special Education Teacher in either Carbon or Lehigh County, with opportunities to work across a variety of educational environments during the 2026-2027 school year. This contract position is structured for flexibility and professional growth—providing essential coverage for absences or extended leaves, and engaging with a diverse range of classrooms and student needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Pennsylvania teaching license.
- Valid PA PDE Certification: Acceptable certifications include Experience-Based Certificate in Special Education PK-12, Instructional I or Instructional II Certificates in relevant Special Education areas.
- Demonstrated experience working with students in special education settings.
- Hands-on participation in developing and implementing IEPs.
- Comfortable with in-person assignments throughout Carbon or Lehigh counties.
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide coverage for teachers in special education classrooms due to absence, vacation, or extended leave as assigned within Carbon or Lehigh counties.
- Deliver instruction and support services in accordance with established IEPs and district standards.
- When not covering for an absence, serve in one of the service provider’s classrooms, contributing your expertise where it’s needed most.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity and the delivery of high-quality special education services.
- Maintain accurate records, document student progress, and communicate effectively with staff and administration.
This contract is anticipated to follow the school calendar from August 10, 2026, through June 11, 2027, with a commitment of 35 hours per week.
