Special Education Teacher | Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
An exciting opportunity awaits for experienced Special Education Teachers eager to make a difference in the lives of students across Carbon and Lehigh Counties. This contract role follows the school calendar from August 10, 2026, through June 11, 2027, with a consistent 35-hour workweek. As an itinerant professional, you'll provide vital coverage for absences and leaves, stepping into classrooms where support is needed most, ensuring uninterrupted educational services for students. When not covering specific absences, you'll contribute your expertise to one of the organization's diverse classrooms for the day.
Key Qualifications:
- Hold an active Pennsylvania teaching license
- Possess a valid Pennsylvania PDE Certification via TIMS, such as:
- Experience-Based Certificate in Special Education PK-12, or
- Instructional I or II Certificate in the appropriate Special Education subject areas (via an agency)
- Demonstrated experience working with students in special education environments
- Skilled in IEP development, review, and implementation
- Committed to in-person instruction
- Strong ability to adapt quickly to new classroom settings and student needs
Responsibilities:
- Serve as an itinerant special education teacher across assigned counties, filling short- and long-term absences
- Provide instruction and support tailored to students’ individual education plans
- Collaborate closely with existing faculty and support staff
- Maintain compliance with all state and district requirements for documentation and service delivery
- Foster an inclusive, positive learning environment for all students
