Make an impact supporting students across Carbon and Lehigh Counties as a contract special education teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This in-person position offers the unique opportunity to serve as an itinerant teacher, covering various classrooms and student needs, while enjoying the consistency of a 35-hour workweek that aligns with the school calendar.
What we’re looking for:
- Active Pennsylvania teaching license.
- Valid PA PDE certification in special education: Experience-Based Certificate in Special Education PK-12, and/or Instructional I or II Certificate in an appropriate Special Education subject area.
- Proven experience working with students in special education environments.
- Comfortable participating in the development and implementation of IEPs.
- Flexible to work in various school sites across Carbon or Lehigh County as needed.
- Ability to quickly adapt to covering different classrooms, including short- or extended-term assignments.
- Commitment to in-person instruction only.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide special education instruction in assigned locations, ensuring student support and progress.
- Adapt quickly to new classroom settings, covering for teachers on leave or managing short-term vacancies.
- Collaborate with colleagues and school staff to maintain continuity of student education.
- Actively participate in IEP meetings and implementation, documenting progress and strategies.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families.
Assignment Details:
- Locations: Two positions in Carbon County, two in Lehigh County.
- Assignment: August 10, 2026 – June 11, 2027 (tentative; follows school calendar).
- Hours: 35 per week.
- Caseloads include coverage of both day-to-day and extended assignments as needed.
- Pay: $75 per hour.
