Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Mississippi K-12 Special Education teaching license required
- Prior experience as a Special Education Teacher in a school-based setting preferred
- Strong classroom management skills and familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals and other support staff
- Compassion, adaptability, and a student-centered mindset
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to meet unique learning needs in a self-contained classroom
- Develop and implement IEPs, collaborating with families and team members
- Employ diverse teaching strategies and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere
- Track and report student progress, adapting plans as necessary
- Offer leadership and mentorship to classroom assistants for optimal student support
