Special Education Teacher - Bolingbrook, Illinois
Empower students to thrive in a specialized learning environment for the 2026-2027 academic year. This contract role is ideal for dedicated Special Education professionals with a passion for fostering positive change in students with significant behavioral needs. Classrooms consist of 3rd–5th or 6th–8th graders, each group capped at 13 students and supported by two paraprofessionals. The focus is on equipping students with effective replacement behaviors while managing challenges such as eloping, defiance, physical aggression, and refusal.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Special Education Certification (IL SPED) and Professional Educator License (PEL)
- Experience working with significant behavior caseloads in a school setting
- Strong understanding of behavior management, intervention strategies, and functional behavior assessment
- Commitment to collaboration with paraprofessionals, therapists, and families
- Openness to ongoing professional development; CPI de-escalation training will be provided to all staff
Role Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver differentiated instruction and individualized behavior interventions to students in 3rd–8th grade
- Teach and reinforce socially appropriate replacement behaviors and emotional regulation skills
- Monitor student progress and maintain detailed documentation on behavior and academic growth
- Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom environment in tandem with support staff
- Participate in regular collaboration and team meetings to ensure consistency and continuity of care
