An exciting contract opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education professional eager to make a real difference in the lives of high school students. This position is ideal for individuals with a passion for teaching and supporting students with moderate behavioral needs in an alternative school setting. The upcoming 26/27 school year, with an option to begin early during Extended School Year (ESY) starting July 6th, offers the chance to work in collaboration with another experienced educator, ensuring consistent support in every classroom.
The teaching focus will be on math and science, addressing the varied academic and behavioral needs of students referred from surrounding districts. All certified educators with general education or special education credentials are encouraged to apply, though experience in special education environments is preferred.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in general education or special education
- Experience working with high school students, particularly those with special needs, strongly preferred
- Comfortable managing moderate behavioral challenges in a supportive, team-based environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning space
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver math and science instruction tailored to individual student needs
- Collaborate closely with a co-teacher to implement effective behavior management strategies
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet diverse learning requirements
- Provide ongoing progress monitoring and communicate regularly with stakeholders
- Contribute to a positive, structured environment for academic and personal growth
