Step into a meaningful contract opportunity for the 2026/27 school year supporting high school students in an alternative educational setting. This role primarily serves students referred for moderate behavioral needs and focuses on English Language Arts (ELA) instruction. Two teachers are present in the classroom at all times, ensuring comprehensive attention and support for each student.
Those interested in making an immediate impact can start early by participating in the Extended School Year (ESY) program beginning July 6th.
Your background includes:
- Valid teaching certification in either general education or special education (both are welcomed)
- Experience with special education highly valued
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a co-teaching environment
- Comfort and adaptability working with students with moderate behavioral needs
- Strong ELA instructional skills
- Commitment to fostering a patient, structured, and supportive classroom
In this role, you will:
- Plan and deliver ELA curriculum tailored to diverse learners
- Employ de-escalation and positive behavior strategies within the classroom
- Partner closely with a co-teacher to create a safe, engaging learning space
- Modify instruction and materials based on Individualized Education Program (IEP) requirements
- Track and report student progress, maintaining detailed documentation
- Foster positive relationships with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
