Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification (required for New York State)
- Previous experience teaching at the middle school level preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Skilled in adapting curriculum and instructional methods to meet individual education plans (IEPs)
- Experience in self-contained and/or resource room environments is advantageous
- Ability to motivate and inspire students with varying learning abilities
- Collaborative spirit for partnering with general education teachers, support staff, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction for middle school students in accordance with individual education plans
- Develop, implement, and document effective lesson plans that accommodate students’ unique needs
- Foster an inclusive, positive classroom environment conducive to learning and growth
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain an engaging, supportive space
- Work with resource team members to ensure all students receive targeted interventions and supports
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and school-based professional development
