Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification for New York State
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related field
- Experience in classroom settings supporting students with IEPs
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies and behavioral supports for diverse learners
- Ability to collaborate productively with general education teachers, therapists, and families
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student strengths and needs
- Adapt lesson plans and learning materials to accommodate various learning styles
- Deliver engaging group and one-on-one instruction aligned with state standards
- Monitor, assess, and document student progress, making data-driven adjustments to instruction
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and growth
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including related service providers and support staff
- Maintain regular communication with families regarding student progress and strategies for success
