This full-time contract position is ideal for a Special Education professional passionate about empowering students aged 18 to 21 through job readiness and life skills instruction. You’ll be the cornerstone of a program focused on preparing students with special needs for success beyond the classroom—both in school and in the wider community.
What You'll Bring:
- A valid or in-process CDE license (required; interviews will only be offered if an active license or COOL is submitted with your resume)
- At least one year of classroom experience working with students with special needs
- Expertise in writing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), developing Behavior Support Plans (BSPs), and collecting/maintaining student data
- Ability to teach practical job readiness, vocational, and independent living skills
- Flexibility and strong team collaboration skills
- Commitment to on-site work, ensuring hands-on support for students
Your Role Includes:
- Supporting a caseload of twelve students at the Transitions Center, focusing on practical and community-based instruction
- Delivering classroom lessons and community-based activities from 8 am to 4 pm
- Administering and tailoring IEPs and BSPs to meet diverse student needs
- Collecting, analyzing, and acting on student progress data
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to foster a supportive, success-oriented environment
- Preparing students for greater independence and real-world job experiences
