Special Education Teacher - Burnsville, MN
Exciting opportunities are available for dedicated Special Education Teachers interested in long-term substitute assignments in a school setting. Located near Burnsville, MN, these contract roles offer a chance to make a real difference for students in both elementary and high school special education environments. The positions are full time, averaging about 35 hours per week, with start dates and assignments varying throughout the school year.
You will work on-site in resource and disability-specific classrooms, supporting the academic and social growth of students with a range of needs. Assignments are available in resource rooms, DCD (Developmental Cognitive Disabilities) settings, ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) classrooms, and EBD (Emotional Behavior Disorder) rooms. Placements will cover different timeframes, some running the full school year.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Minnesota Special Education license (SPED) required; all tiers and sub licenses considered
- Experience teaching or working in special education settings preferred
- Familiarity with elementary and/or high school special education caseloads
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to supporting the diverse needs of students
Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in a positive, inclusive environment
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and school support staff
- Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to accommodate a variety of learning styles and abilities
- Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in team meetings
- Provide classroom management and foster a safe, supportive learning space
